The Springfield Cardinals guaranteed their third straight series victory with a 3-1 win over the Arkansas Travelers Tuesday night at Hammons Field.
The Cards opened up the scoring in the second inning when Jose Godoy doubled into the right-center field gap and then scored on a single by Chris Chinea. Cards up 1-0.
The Cards picked up a pair in the bottom of the fifth when Irving Lopez reached on a bunt single followed by Justin Williams hitting his first home run of the year to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead.
The Travelers snuck one back in the top of the sixth when Donnie Walton lead off the inning with his fourth home run of the year.
However, that was all the Travelers could do against the Cards as Austin Warner ended up striking out 10 Arkansas batters in the 3-1 win.
The Cards have a day game Wednesday at 11:10 a.m. to wrap up the series.
