Springfield-based Bass Pro Shops has been named the 12th most reputable company in America according to the 2019 Forbes list of reputable companies, ahead of such notables as the Walt Disney Company, Under Armour, Canon, Bose and Harley-Davidson.
The study by the Reputation Institute for Forbes measured over 2,200 companies across the United States with over 167,000 individual ratings on various aspects of company reputation.
“We are humbled and truly grateful to be singled out by consumers as among the very best in America,” Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris said in a statement. “This recognition speaks to the genuine friendly service our remarkable outfitters provide our customers every day. Beyond offering quality products, exceptional value and a shopping environment unlike any other, our people make the difference, and we owe this honor to the collective efforts of our entire team.”
The study showed that the opinion of companies in many of the survey takers minds were influenced by whether or not the company is seen as a good community citizen. Bass Pro’s conservation efforts along with their providing boats for rescue efforts in recent devastating hurricanes in the southeast provided boosts for the company.
In the last year Bass Pro also partnered with Camp Barnabas to give fishing experiences for special needs children, worked to restore green spaces around the area, worked with wildlife managers in Florida to restore the Everglades and helped fund programs to help disabled veterans gain relief from injuries and pain through SCUBA diving.
