The city of Springfield is working to help eliminate a flooding issue in the area around Grand Street and Crutcher Avenue, but it’s going to require closing Grand for a few days.
The major secondary road for people avoiding traffic on Glenstone and other major roadways will be closed until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, weather permitting.
Motorists who use Grand as an alternate route to work or school are being suggested to use Barnes Avenue or Cherry Street as a detour for the next few days.
The reason for the length of time for closure is to make sure the cement is completely dry before reopening the road to traffic. The pipes are not currently damaged and non-functional; larger pipes are being put in place to allow better water flow in times of high volume.
