The first NCAA-II Midwest Region softball rankings of 2019 have been released, and the Drury Panthers are 10th among the 38 teams in the region. It marks the first time in seven years Drury has appeared in the region’s top 10.
The Panthers are 31-14 and have passed the 30-win total for only the second time in program history and for the first time since 2012 when they finished the season 36-19. Drury is 10-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and tied for fourth in the league standings.
Grand Valley State is the top-ranked team in the region entering the week with a 29-7 record. Indianapolis (36-10) is ranked second while defending national champion Southern Indiana (30-14) is third.
Eight teams from the region will advance to one of two NCAA-II sub-regional tournaments including three conference tournament championship teams that will receive an automatic bid.
Drury is at home for two conference doubleheaders this weekend as they host Quincy on Friday and Truman State on Saturday at Thompson Field.
