Governor Michael Parson visited an OTC job fair Tuesday morning to talk about workforce development and its impact on the state.
“If we want Missouri to move forward, we must invest in workforce development,” Governor Parson told those in attendance.
The governor’s appearance was part of an announcement of an initiative to create 500 new manufacturing technicians through OTC. Participants in the job-centered program will receive a Certified Production Technician certificate, meaning they show mastery of the core parts of manufacturing production.
“There are so many workers out there trying to figure out how to get the skills they need,” Governor Parson told OI. “Programs like this one at OTC really give young men and women an opportunity to prepare for the workforce.”
Nearly a dozen local businesses were on site for OTC students and area residents to apply for open positions along with OTC offering applications for new students to enroll for the CPT certificate.
