City Council Lunch Discusses Future of Airport

Springfield City Council heard from the Airport task force and city staff concerning a number of proposals first mentioned to the Council in January regarding possible future changes to the governing of the airport.

Below are the three proposals that seem to be the most viable to those involved with researching potential changes:

The one recommended by the task force, an independent airport authority, would require the most amount of change and require action to be taken by the state legislature.

The Council took all the information under advisement and will be taking the next few weeks to read through the suggestions of the task force, memos from city staff and then bring the subject up for further discussion.
