Local support group for single mothers, SingleMomzRock, has announced they will be holding a Mother’s Day Luncheon for area single mothers on Sunday May 12th.
The event will take place with host Central Assembly after the church’s 10:30 a.m. service with special guest musician Sara Groves. The luncheon will be for the mothers and their children and will be free of charge.
They will also have child care available for children in fifth grade or lower.
“Central Assembly has had a special relationship with our group for years,” SingleMomzRock founder Janelle Reed told OI. “When they reached out about this idea of wanting to pour into our moms for Mother’s Day, I was 100% in right away. Mother’s Day isn’t a popular day for single mothers to go to church. There’s lots of reasons behind that. So when they said we will have special guest Sara Groves in for the service and then wanted to cater our moms and kids a free lunch afterwards, I couldn’t say no. I think this will make our single moms feel very much loved on, seen and included on a day that sometimes can be hard to be felt included in society’s standards let alone a church’s. We are very appreciative of them.”
The event is free but anyone attending must RSVP so enough food can be ready for the luncheon. Click here to RSVP on the SingleMomzRock website.
