The Springfield area charity for the homeless known as The Kitchen has announced a critical shortage of canned goods in their food pantry.
The organization made the announcement today on social media that after their most recent distribution to area families in need, they have completely exhausted their canned good supplies.
The organization has put out a call for emergency donations of supplies. Anyone in the community who has extra canned good or food items are asked to bring them to the Kitchen’s Receiving Center located at 420 East Blaine St. in Springfield.
Donations are accepted 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
In addition to the emergency need for canned goods, the Kitchen is also low in a number of other items they provide to the homeless and hungry in our area. Their full “wish list” is posted below:
