The Springfield Cardinals are coming home for their first game of the season tomorrow night at Hammons Field.
The Cards have been off to a rough start, losing all seven games in their opening road trip following a 12-6 loss to Tulsa Wednesday. Four of the Cardinals’ seven losses were by only one run.
Despite the team’s rough start, several Cardinals are off individually to great starts. Dylan Carlson is hitting .346 with 2 home runs and 8 runs batted in. Kramer Robertson has a .273, 2 HR, 4 RBI line. Pitcher Anthony Shew is 0-1, but has a 1.80 ERA in his two starts.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
Opening night has a number of things happening. The biggest is the “66 Degree Guarantee” promotion taking place. If the temperature at the time of the ceremonial first pitch (6:35 p.m.) is below 66 degrees, everyone in attendance will be given one ticket to another home game in April. According to forecast service Weather Underground, the temperature around that time should be around 63 degrees, so those in attendance appear to have a decent shot at getting another ticket for every paid ticket.
Opening night is also a giveaway of magnets printed with calendars of the 2019 season on them for the first 3,500 fans.
Opening night is the first game of a seven-game homestand for the Cards.
