The city of Springfield saw a huge jump in sales tax revenue for the month compared to the same month the previous year.
The April sales tax revenue check from the Missouri Department of Revenue was $3,905,148, an increase of 8.6 percent over April 2018. The jump helped increase the overall sales tax revenue increase over year-to-date 2018 by 3.29 percent, or roughly $1.25 million.
The funds for April come from sales processed in March by the state from transactions that primarily took place in February. Approximately 56 percent of revenue is from sales and use tax.
