Thousands Attend Greene County Sheriff’s Office Live PD Event

Thousands of Ozarks residents and visitors from across the country descended on an OzAir Charter hanger Saturday for a massive LivePD watch party hosted by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

The event featured LivePD officers from across the nation along with actor Muse Watson, best known for playing Mike Franks on NCIS.

“Not only are we supporting Greene County Sheriff’s Office,” Pinal County (Arizona) Sheriff Mark Lamb told OI, “but all the agencies that participate in LivePD and really all law enforcement across the country. I think the show has been really good for law enforcement in how people view us, how they understand what we do on a daily basis. So it’s good to latch up with these guys and share experiences.”

“I’m amazed at the number of people who are here from all over the country,” Gwinnett County (Georgia) Deputy Mike Baker told OI. “The love in this community for law enforcement, I have to say, is very impressive…Live PD has been nothing but a positive for law enforcement from all parts of the country.”

Despite temperatures that hovered in the lower 40s with a chilling wind blowing across the airport property, the line of those wanting to meet members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and LivePD officers wrapped around the hangar for hours.

Courtney DeVille told OI she came out because of her daughter, Jayden, who wanted to meet her idol, El Paso officer Andrea Zendejas.

“We have all teenagers that we’re raising and we want to nurture this relationship they have (with law enforcement) because they have such an important role in our family’s lives in keeping us safe every day,” DeVille said.

Watson told OI it was important to him to come out and show support for law enforcement.

“I think it’s important in this day and age for us to teach our kids that these guys are here to help us, not only to protect us but also to support us,” Watson said. “No matter what you see on the news, these are your friends.”
