The Nixa school district has announced that Dr. David Kelly has been named the new principal of Nixa High School, replacing Mark McGehee after the latter’s promotion to executive director of human resources.
A Nixa High School alumnus, Dr. Kelly has been the assistant principal of Nixa High School since 2013. He previously worked at Hollister High School and began his career in 2005 in the Dallas County school district. He earned his doctorate in Education from Evangel University in 2018.
“While serving as an assistant principal, Dr. Kelly has demonstrated his ability to build relationships, provide instructional leadership, and exemplify what it means to be a ‘life-long’ learner,” Clay Hanna, Nixa executive director of secondary education, said in a statement. “His experience with the district, professional learning communities (PLC) knowledge base, and genuine caring about student success will serve him well in this new role for Nixa High School.”
The district also announced the hiring of two assistant principals.
Josh Bennett will become assistant principal for High Pointe and Mathews Elementary schools after the previous assistant principal left to take a principal’s job at Logan-Rogersville. Emily Myers will take over as assistant principal for John Thomas School of Discovery and Inman Intermediate after the previous assistant principal left for a position in Marshfield.
