Contract Crew Knocks Out Power to 5,000 in Springfield

City Utilities reported one of their contract crews had an incident involving a piece of their equipment and a power line, knocking out power to over 5,000 customers in the central part of the city.

The outage included the Mercy Hospital campus.

Several intersections have lost power and CU reminded residents that any intersection with dark traffic lights should be treated as a four-way stop.

CU says there are no injuries from the incident.
