The Drury Lady Panthers will host the NCAA-II Midwest Regional tournament March 15-19 at the O’Reilly Family Event Center after being named the top seed in the region. Drury is 31-0 and continued their unbeaten run by winning the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament championship on Sunday with a 94-48 win over Bellarmine.
The Lady Panthers will play eighth-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan in the opening round on Friday at 6 pm. Kentucky Wesleyan is 24-7 and received an at-large bid into the tournament field. The game will be a rematch of the 2018-19 season opener won by Drury 98-60 on Nov. 9 in Nashville, Tenn.
The winner of Friday’s game will play the winner of fourth-seeded Ashland (29-2) and number five seed Northern Michigan (22-9) in the regional semifinals on Saturday at 7:30 pm.
The other opening-round games on Friday include Lewis (26-4), seeded second in the region, taking on seventh-seeded Walsh (25-6), and the number three seed, Grand Valley State (27-3), will face sixth-seeded Truman State (23-7).
Both semifinal games are scheduled for Saturday, March 16 with the regional championship game set for Monday, March 18 at 7 pm.
The Midwest Regional tournament will feature three teams ranked in the NCAA-II top 10 and four teams in the top 25. The Lady Panthers ranked number one nationally while Ashland is ranked sixth, Grand Valley is number seven, and Lewis is ranked 19th in the poll.
Drury will be making their 16th NCAA-II tournament appearance in the program’s 19-year history, and it is their sixth consecutive trip to nationals. The Lady Panthers have advanced to the regional championship game for three straight seasons, and they own a 26-15 record all-time in the NCAA-II tournament. Drury has won three regional championships and was the NCAA-II runner-up in 2004. The Lady Panthers are hosting the Midwest Regional for the first time since 2014 and will serve as the host site for the sixth time in program history.
Lady Panthers season ticket holders will have the opportunity to reserve their same seats for the regional tournament with the purchase of an all-session pass for $25.
