Springfield Public School announced the appointment of a new principal for Westport Elementary and a new Coordinator of Student and School Services.
Jill Palmer is the new principal of Westport Elementary School. Palmer will replace Kim Sublett who will retire at the end of the current school year.
Palmer is moving back from administration where she had been serving as the coordinator for accountability in the Assessment, Accountability, and Analytics Department. Prior to that administration appointment, Palmer has served as assistant principal at Pipkin Middle School for two years and was a teacher at Kickapoo High School since 2001.
“I am honored to serve the community of Westport,” Palmer said in a statement. “I have a passion for excellence and an unwavering belief in the potential of all students. I will strive to foster relationships within the Westport community by taking personal responsibility for the success of all students and staff.”
SPS also announced that Amy Patton will be replacing the retiring Ann White as the Coordinator of Student and School Services. Patton will supervise customer relations, volunteers, transfers and support for Explore.
Patton has been the principal of Rountree Elementary School since 2014. She previously served as assistant to the principal at Disney and Bingham Elementary.
“It is with great eagerness that I accept this new responsibility,” Patton said in a statement. “My focus will be on developing relationships, fostering community partnerships, analyzing data to determine direction, and collaborating with all stakeholders for the purpose of resolution and student success. I am committed to academic excellence for all children.”
