The Branson Board of Aldermen voted to approve a plan that will bring a 46,000 square foot aquarium to the former Grand Palace site. The deal with the city for the aquarium required the city to create a TIF, or Tax Increment Financing, to generate tax revenue to benefit the project.
The deal with the city puts a limit of $7 million dollars in tax financing from the city into the construction of the aquarium. The tax dollars fund 13.7% of the overall cost of the construction.
The aquarium is expected to open to the public late spring or summer 2020.
