The Branson board of Aldermen have voted unanimously for plans to bring a 46,000 square foot aquarium to the city.
“Aquarium at the Boardwalk” is being developed by Kuvera Partners and hopes to open in 2020. The Los-Angeles based developer is asking Branson taxpayers to fund 7 million dollars of the 51 million dollar project.
The vote by the aldermen is the first of two; if they vote to approve at a meeting in two weeks then the project is officially greenlit for development.
The aquarium would be located in the space of the long-vacant Grand Palace Theater on 76 Country Boulevard. The aquarium design includes a “Jellyfish Infinity Room” and a pool where visitors can touch horseshoe crabs, rays and sharks.
