A caffeinated group of up-and-coming business owners and innovators is celebrating their fifth birthday next Wednesday, February 13.
The group, 1 Million Cups Springfield, meets every Wednesday morning at the Springfield Art Museum. They meet over coffee and talk about their businesses with the underlying theory that many great innovations take place when entrepreneurs meet over cups of coffee.
“Our goal is to help entrepreneurs succeed by inviting audiences to listen to an eight-minute presentation, then ask stop-and-think questions that will help the entrepreneur improve their business,” Sterling Huff, co-founder of 1 Million Cups Springfield, stated in a press release.
The group’s weekly event at the Art Museum involves half an hour of mingling over coffee in the lobby and then a presentation by two area entrepreneurs followed by Q&A time from those in attendance aimed at helping the presenters develop and grow their business or organization.
The five year anniversary celebration will change their format for the week with a special keynote address by Springfield business legend Jack Stack and a business expo.
Stack, CEO of SRC Holding Company and internationally known author of The Great Game of Business and A Stake in the Outcome, will share some of what he learned building a multi-million dollar business.
“Like 1 Million Cups, I’ve coached and mentored hundreds of start-up businesses and nonprofits, more start-ups should take advantage of this opportunity to get their business in front of an audience interested in helping them succeed,” Stack stated in the press release.
The weekly events (and 5th birthday event) are free and begin at 8:30 a.m..
