The Springfield Police Department has hundreds of new stuffed teddy bears to give to kids in crisis situations thanks to a partnership between Missouri State and Old Missouri Bank.

“Share the Bear” was sponsored by Old Missouri Bank and took place January 23rd at JQH Arena when the Missouri State Bears doubled up Loyola Chicago 70-35. At halftime of the game, patrons who brought stuffed teddy bears threw them onto the court to be gathered by SPD officers.

The bears were brought to the Springfield police department headquarters today by Old Missouri Bank staff along with Coach Dana Ford, Jared Ridder and Josh Webster of the Missouri State Men’s Basketball team.

The bears are kept in vehicles by Springfield police officers and given to children who are found in traumatic and crisis situations.
