The Missouri State Senate has unanimously confirmed John Russell as the District 2 Commissioner for Greene County.
Russell was appointed as interim Commissioner on January 8th pending the Senate confirmation under a new law that went into effect last year requiring the Senate’s approval of the governor’s nominees for county commissions.
Russell will serve the remainder of the term for Lincoln Hough, who resigned the position to serve as District 30 State Senator. That term will end December 31, 2020.
Russell is a former deputy chief of staff for Governor Matt Blunt and holds a degree in business administration from the University of Missouri. He is the board president-elect for Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
“This is an exciting time to be a member of the Greene County Commission and I look forward to all the opportunities we have to keep moving our County forward,” Russell said in a press statement.
