Springfield Police Chief to Update City Council on Sexual Assault Case Procedures

Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams will be speaking to the city council during Tuesday’s Council Lunch to discuss the department’s handling of sexual assault cases.

The department’s handling of cases and procedures used in investigations have become a matter of public focus after a CNN report noted significant problems with past investigations by the department.

The meeting will begin at noon Tuesday January 15th in the Denny Whayne Conference Room on the 4th floor of the Busch Municipal Building. There will be no public hearing but they will not be allowed to address council or the police chief. There will be public comment sheets that can be filled out.
