The Greene County Commission held an emergency session Monday afternoon to appoint David Yancey as the interim Public Administrator for Greene County.
Yancey will serve as a replacement for Lee Ann Walker, who submitted her resignation effective 5 p.m. Monday January 7.
Greene County Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon told OI that the reason for the emergency session appointment was because of the timing of Walker’s resignation. The deputies working in the Public Administrator’s office would have lost their authority to handle the cases of the county’s wards without someone in the position.
“We want to thank Ms. Walker for her service to the citizens of Greene County and we wish her a speedy recovery to good health,” Dixon said. “In the interim, the County is committed to continuing to serve the individuals and estates entrusted with their affairs through the Public Administrator’s office.”
Governor Parson will appoint a Public Administrator to fill out the remainder of Walker’s term, which ends in 2020. The appointee will then have the option to run for a full term in the office.
