After taking the oath of office at the Greene County Historic Courthouse on Friday, incoming Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon indicated he is going to waste no time in having the Greene County Commission face a major issue.
Dixon told OI that a long-discussed audit of Greene County by state auditor Nicole Galloway will be a topic at the first meeting of the County Commission in 2019.
“9 a.m.,” Dixon told OI.
The meeting, which is open to the public, is the daily commission briefing.
While Dixon did not explicitly tell OI that he would vote for the audit, he did tell OI that he intends to “do what [he] said during the campaign” related to bringing “transparency” to the county. During the campaign, Dixon said he would be in favor of allowing Auditor Galloway to investigate the county.
Commissioner Lincoln Hough has previously endorsed a state audit of Greene County and would be expected to vote in favor of an audit.
