The City of Springfield announced Monday their sales tax revenue was down nearly 4% in December.
The sales tax check was $4,143,468 compared to the city’s budgeted amount of $4,306,831. The check reflects sales the state processes in November for sales that mostly took place in October.
Sales tax revenue is the main source of city revenue for services such as police and fire operations. Approximately 56 percent of revenue comes from sales and use taxes.
