A meeting of city and county leaders at the Busch Municipal Building Tuesday morning discussed residential building codes and moving them to the 2018 International Building Codes.
Harlan Hill of Building Development Services told OI that discussions are ongoing between the city, the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield and other interested parties to develop a proposal to bring before City Council.
The process of reviewing codes and discussing potential revisions to the 2018 IBC began in August and in the meeting Deputy City Manager Collin Quigley mentioned a bill could be presented to the council some time in February 2019.
The meeting also discussed budgetary issues being considered by County officials and potential impacts on joint projects with the city. The County Commission begins their final budget decision process tomorrow in a meeting open to the public.
