In a battle of the unbeatens, Greenwood was able to pull away in the second half to hand Fordland their first loss of the season, 95-76.
Greenwood’s Aminu Mohammed lead all scorers with 44 points but surprisingly he was not the catalyst for Greenwood to pull away in the second half. Mohammed carried Greenwood in the first half with 32 of his 44 points, giving the Blue Jays an 8 point halftime lead.
However, Fordland came out of the gates in the second half with a barrage of three pointers, quickly erasing Greenwood’s advantage to take the lead. That’s when Garrett Litherland took his game to a new level and helped Greenwood pull away from the middle of the third quarter until the end of the game.
Litherland scored all 16 of his points in the second half, almost all of them in the post surrounded by multiple Fordland Eagles. Litherland’s steady scoring allowed Greenwood to slowly pull away from the Eagles despite Fordland’s success from three point range.
Tommy Pinegar, Grant Harper and John Sharp were also in double digits for Greenwood.
Jake Farnsworth lead Fordland with 26 points, Brett Hyder added 21 and Joe Hart 11 to be the Eagles players in double digits in the loss.
Greenwood moves to 8-0 while Fordland falls to 6-1.
