One person was killed at an Aurora motel and thousands were left without power after a severe storm blew through the Ozarks Friday evening into Saturday morning.
The storm, which included an EF-1 tornado confirmed by the National Weather Service in Aurora, resulted in downed power lines and trees throughout the region. Several major routes, including U.S. 60, were closed for periods because of downed power lines.
EF-0 tornadoes were also confirmed in Monett and Hartville.
Aurora authorities said that one person died at the Aurora Inn. The name of the victim has not been released.
City Utilities crews were dispatched to deal with the thousands who lost power from the storm, mostly in the western and northeast parts of Springfield according to a press release from CU.
